About

Hi, I'm Zaib. I built Asked.

Twenty-plus years writing code, four years obsessed with LLMs, and a lot of evenings spent watching small business owners get ripped off by AI/SEO agencies. Asked is what I would have built for myself.

Software engineer since 2003 · obsessed with LLMs · UK-based

I've been writing production code since 2003. Long enough to remember when “AI” meant a chess engine and “SEO” meant stuffing keywords into your meta tags.

For the last four years I've been deep in large language models - what they read, what they cite, how their answers form, and the very specific (and very boring) reasons why some local businesses get named and others get told “I don't have any information about that.”

I built Asked because I kept watching trade business owners pay £2,000–£4,000 per month for AI/SEO retainers that produced a laminated PDF and zero measurable lift. The methodology that actually moves visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Bing Copilot isn't a secret and it isn't 200 hours of work. It's a deterministic playbook that costs more in project-management than in execution. So I productised it.

Asked is the audit I would have wanted to receive as a small-business owner, at a price a small business can actually afford. If you have questions before you buy, email me directly. I read every message and reply within 24 hours.

Background

How we got here.

  1. 2003

    First production code

Started writing software professionally in PHP and Perl when MySpace was still a thing and 'AI' meant chess engines and Eliza chatbots.

  2. 2009 - 2017

    Web and product engineering

Spent the better part of a decade shipping production systems across e-commerce, fintech and SaaS. Through the whole transition from LAMP stacks to React, Node and serverless.

  3. 2018 - 2022

    Local SEO behind the scenes

Started consulting on local SEO and citation cleanup for trade businesses on the side. Watched dozens of owners burn £15-30k/year on agencies that never showed them the work.

  4. 2022 - now

    Obsessed with LLMs

ChatGPT shipped, GPT-4 followed, and it was immediately obvious local-business discovery was about to change. Four years deep in how LLMs read the web, what they cite, and why some businesses get named and others don't.

Why Asked exists

The honest origin story.

A few years ago I started getting the same question from friends and friends-of-friends who ran trade businesses: “ChatGPT tells my customers about the competition, not me. How do I fix that?”

So I built the audit. Then the playbook. Then the deliverable. The methodology that actually moves visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Bing Copilot is well understood - it involves Bing Places, Wikidata, OpenStreetMap, structured data, real review velocity, citations from high-trust domains, and brand co-occurrence across the open web. None of it is a secret. All of it is on the workbook's 23 sheets.

What was missing was the productisation. A way for a plumber in Bolton to get the same methodology as a venture-funded chain, customised line-by-line for their business, at a price they could justify on a Saturday afternoon. That's what Asked is: £99 if you want to run it yourself, £499 if you want me to run it for you in 14 days, with a real money-back guarantee tied to the only metric we both control - the visibility score.

Why “Asked”. The product starts with a question: what does ChatGPT actually say about my business? Most owners have never thought to ask. The answer is usually uncomfortable. The good news is that uncomfortable answers are also the most useful starting point.

How I work

Six principles. Non-negotiable.

Honest direction

I'll tell you exactly what I'll do, in what order, and by when. No black-box. No 'trust me'. The methodology is the deliverable.

Outcome-tied refund

If your visibility score doesn't move in 14 days, you get every penny back. The guarantee is the most honest signal I can send.

White-hat only

Everything I recommend is platform-approved, publicly documented, sustainable. No keyword stuffing, no link buying, no AI-generated mass content, no Reddit spam.

Specific over generic

Your workbook is pre-filled with your business name, your city, your service, your real review count, your Google Maps URL. Not a template you customise - a deliverable you execute.

Measurable over magical

I don't promise leads I can't deliver. I promise score movement, because that's what I can actually control. Leads follow visibility on a 30-90 day curve.

Small business first

Asked exists because the smallest local trade should access the same methodology as a venture-funded chain. £99 for the playbook. £499 for done-for-you. No retainer trap.
